What is ADSIS?
ADSIS stands for "Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services".  The purpose of ADSIS is to provide instruction to assist students who need additional academic support to succeed in the general education environment. The goal is to reduce the number of inappropriate referrals to special education by providing supports early to struggling students. Districts are expected to align the ADSIS program within their existing continuum of supports, collect data as specified in the application, and submit evaluation information to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) each year to determine program impact. Unfortunately, I am unable to service students who are already on an IEP for reading, math, speech, behaviors, etc--not per choice, but by law (unless my schedule allows).

Lewiston-Altura Elementary supports K-4 grade students in reading and 3-4 grade students in math.
  
In order for your child to be eligible, they are SCREENED three times a year
(1)End of September 
(2)Middle of January
(3)End of April/Beginning of May
***To screen students we use: FASTBridge/AIMSWeb, NWEA/MAP, M-Comp & MCAs.  To know the details of the screening tools check out/click our Lewiston-Altura Elementary Literacy Plan at the bottom of the page. We also take Teacher Recommendations into account. 
 
When students are eligible for the ADSIS program,
they are PROGRESS MONITORED weekly! 
We use the FASTBridge/AIMSWeb system for progress monitoring reading - 
Kindergarten is assessed on (1)letter sounds, then later in the year (2)decodable words
1st Grade is assessed on  (1)decodable words, then later in the year (2)CBM-R/Fluency
2nd-4th Grade is assesson on CBM-R/Fluency.

For Math we are using XTRA Math, which assesses math fact fluency. This is done 2 times/week. 

***I will send home reports the FIRST FRIDAY of EVERY MONTH, starting in December (after I can explain reports at conferences in November). 
 
Curriculum Used Daily to help your child! 
I see your child every day for 20 - 30 minutes and these are the programs I use with them:
  • Read Well – Scientifically based reading program, the skills include instruction and practice in vocabulary, comprehension, knowledge, decoding, phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency.
  • Happily Ever After - Scientifically researched based program that focuses on oral language, vocabulary, listening skills, direction following, and fine motor skills.
  • PALS Reading – Scientifically based reading program the focuses on phonological awareness and decoding skills
  • Read Naturally – Researched based reading fluency and comprehension intervention using teacher modeling, repeated reading and progress monitoring. 
  • Focus Math – Intensive math intervention program, that focuses on three key mathematical topics at each grade level, using a combination of concept development, guided practice, and independent practice to help students master the mathematical concept. 
 
What can I do at home to help my child(ren)?

#1: Read, Read, Read - sit with your child and give them time to read you a story, make sure they are reading the words correctly and if not sound out the words with them 
#2: Practice Math Facts - Flash cards are a great investment or print some off of the internet!
