Objective and Syllabus
Classroom Policies, Rules, and Discipline Policy for Mrs. Hornberg’s Classroom
It is important for all students to follow the classroom policies listed below to allow all students to learn in a safe and structured environment.
- All adults in the building will be treated with the same respect and authority.
- Be prepared and on time!
- Treat everyone, including their property, with respect.
- Appropriate language is expected at all times.
- All students will do their own work.
- Water, flavored water, and Powerade are the only acceptable beverages allowed, as long as student is responsible with it. No energy drinks, pop or coffee drinks are allowed.
- Follow all school rules and enjoy learning!
- Computer time is a privilege after work is completed.
- Healthy snacks will be allowed as long as it does not disturb others and student is responsible with it.
- Field trips-all school rules apply.
- Electronic devices (cell phones, IPods, MP3 Players, etc.):
- No electronic devices will be allowed, EXCEPT when specific permission has been granted. Otherwise:
- First offense-warning and student will be asked to put the device in their locker.
- Second offense-The item will be turned into the office until the end of the day. Parent will be notified.

- Consequences for not following expectations:
- Step 1-Warning
- Step 2-Conference with teacher
- Step 3- Detention in my classroom before or after school
- Step 4- Conference with me and parent notified
- Step 5-Referral to administration
- Students may move up on the offense ladder in any way that I determine appropriate based on the behavior. The Focus Room may be utilized to help the student cool down and process behaviors.
- Detention with me may be assigned at any time for a length of 1 min-30 minutes.
- Severe behavior will result in immediate referral to the office/administration.
- Homework/make-up policy is based on individual needs determined by teacher, student and/or IEP.
- This plan in its entirety is subject to change at any time.
