Hello! My name is Ms. Sheila McDermott and I teach 11th and 12th grade English here at Lewiston-Altura High School. I am originally from New England, where I was born and raised along New Hampshire's mountains and seacoast. I earned my teaching degree from the University of New Hampshire where I majored in English, After earning my BA in English, I continued my studies and received a MA in English Education.
I taught in New Hampshire before moving to Wyoming where I taught high school English, journalism and photography while my husband worked on his PhD in structural Geology. When he accepted a job at Winona State College, we moved to the Midwest and at that time I took a job teaching English at the college level and remained there for almost 20 years.
While I enjoyed my tenure in higher ed, I am thrilled that in January of 2023 I was asked to join the teaching staff at Lewiston High School, I am enjoying working with the students of the Lewiston and Altura community.
